Caya's Dog & Cat 800 Rose St. La Crosse ph. 608-519-2999
Lisa Opland Caya
Owner & Shopkeeper
I have enjoyed working retail all my life, helping customers find the perfect item and building attractive displays.

Over the years I’ve imagined having my own store, waiting for the right time and the right space and the right idea.

Caya’s Dog & Cat is the result of these things coming together. With this beautiful building on La Crosse’s Northside, appreciating the love that pets bring to our lives and the fact that I’m turning 60 years old this year, it all fell into place.

Thank you for your support. I hope you love it as much as I do.

History
Cayas in the Mercantile Business
My husbands ancestors were amoung the first settlers of Lynxville, Wisconsin. Great grandfather Fred "Fritz" Caya, seen in the photo with the broom, and his wife Mable operated what would become Caya's Corner beginning the late 1880's.

The Building
The most prominent 19th century structure remaining in the Rose Street commercial district, The McGill Brothers Bank was constructed in 1887.
Many La Crosse residents know this building as the old "Buzz's Bike Shop", and the name still exists on the etched glass windows.

We'll be collecting history of the building and adding it here and in the store.
